This year has been completely amazing for Tatty Devine. Thank you to everyone for all the support you’ve shown us!

The year started in January with an entire Tatty Devine wall and workshop in Selfridges’ Concept Store. Taking a lasercutter into a department store was really exciting.

In February we were in the news after publishing a blog titled ‘Can You Spot The Difference?’, comparing high street jewellery to our own. Rosie’s highlight of the year was speaking live on Radio 4 afterwards, about how important originality is in our designs. A lawyer had been invited on to argue against Rosie, but she turned him round and, live on air, he said we had a very good case. It was really empowering.

In March, we gave a talk at a British Library event called Inspiring Entrepreneurs. Watch it for a potted history of Tatty Devine.

Our jewellery was produced in solid silver for the first time, with the launch of the Fine collection.

Look out for some very exciting developments in the Fine collection in Spring 2013, with the introduction of gold and rose gold.

Harriet’s highlight of the year was the Colette Carnaval in Paris, a huge festival to celebrate the 10th birthday of the original concept store, Colette. It was so cool to be in Paris and be part of something that changed the face of fashion. And to work with Sarah Lerfel, who is the powerhouse behind it all.

Our stores had mini makeovers this year. Brick Lane is now big and bright:

And we installed a lasercutter at our Monmouth Street store, to make Name Necklaces on the spot. We celebrated with a whole week of fun offers. Here’s Kara in her Kara Guevara necklace she made for ‘Nickname Wednesday’. (We’re very sad that Kara has to go back to Australia next year – we love you Kara.)

Our favourite new superstar Azealia Banks wore our Eyelash Sunglasses at the Hackney Weekend, then requested lots of Liquorice Name Necklaces for her fans.

Kate Nash summed up the summer’s vortex of fashion excitement around our Eyelash Sunglasses with this image:

And Susie Bubble spent a day in the studio with Harriet, making the ultimate floral headband. We love the blog she wrote afterwards.

We celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with crystal-studded Crown Tiaras:

And to mark the Olympics we made this Medal Necklace which let anybody be number one:

Going to Japan was cool. We took over the Moma design store in Tokyo, and met lots of Japanese fans.

In our capacity as an official sponsor of the London Rollergirls, we made them a whole rainbow of Pride necklaces for Pride London. Because that’s what sponsors do.

You came along to lots of workshops, to learn how to make jewellery with us.

Louise Gray sent models down the catwalk in Tatty Devine at London Fashion Week. Look out for the resulting jewellery collection, which launches in Spring 2013.

Also for London Fashion Week, we created this Minnie Mouse inspired necklace which was auctioned off for charity. Our production manager Becki did all the fiddly work of creating hundreds of eyes – here she is testing out the sheer weight of the necklace!

Hoxton Street Monster Supplies asked us to create some monstrous jewellery to support the Ministry of Stories. “Uurghhh,” we said. “We’d love to!”

We ended the year with the creation of a Name Necklace Now hut inside Selfridges.

And with a whole festive room of Tatty Devine at Somerset House. It’s open until 6th January, so there’s still time to pop in.

We haven’t even mentioned the Guardian Weekend, Fashion Day at Hackney House during the Olympics,  or our pop-ups in Paris and Taiwan.

We’ve also done lots of stuff behind the scenes this year, like moving mail order operations to  a little unit next to our Kent workshop. So now when you order online, your jewellery is packed and sent from Kent, near to where Harriet grew up.

Thank you so much for being into Tatty Devine this year. And if you’ve just discovered us, welcome to our world.

Happy New Year! Wondering what’s in store from Tatty Devine this year? Wonder no more with our sneak peek into 2013!

Way back in September 2012, offbeat designer Louise Gray sent models down the catwalk in Tatty Devine jewellery. Graphic clip-on earrings and oversized mirrored rings were covered in Sharpie messages scrawled on by Louise. For Spring, we’ve recreated Louise’s handwritten messages to create a range of rings, plus the graphic earrings.

Tatty Devine will be in the mood for love on Valentine’s Day…! We’re showing you this Necklace now so you can start dropping hints:

We can’t show you the Spring/Summer 2013 collection just yet, but here’s a sneak peek of one of the make-up looks created by cult British beauty brand Illamasqua on our photoshoot:

Our book, How To Make Jewellery with Tatty Devine, is released in the US on 5th February (just before New York Fashion Week). Here’s the American book cover so you can play Spot The Difference:

Watch out, we’re coming to New York to celebrate! Make sure you look out for book signings and workshops with Rosie and Harriet, we’ll announce them soon.

We’re usually work six months ahead, so we’re busy designing our Autumn/Winter 2013 collection right now. Harriet’s hair has even changed colour during the design process!

Also… Look out for the all-new Fine collection, a charming new project, more Tatty Devine sunglasses, plus we’re working with one of the best festivals around.

See you in 2013!

Every Christmas we love gathering our friends and family all around and getting crafty. This year we created our very own Tatty Devine Deluxe Crackers, each one adorned with an iconic Tatty Devine perspex shape. Each cracker contained chain, jump rings and instructions – everything needed to make the shapes into necklaces.

We asked you to tweet us photos of your finished necklaces with the hashtag #tattycrackers to be in with the chance of winning a prize. We loved all your entries and it was very hard to pick our favourite…

Congratulations to our winner, Nat! We loved the unusual backdrops to Nat’s photographs, especially this ceramic tile-topped box.

This inquisitive bird is the perfect companion to Nat’s Glitter Crown Necklace.

We’re always impressed by the creativity of our customers so we simply had to show you the other entries. Fern cleverly charted the journey of her Glitter Star from cracker decoration to jewellery.

We love Emily’s festive red waffle knit jumper teamed with her Bow Tie Necklace.

Shona wears her Glitter Star Necklace with her Name Necklace for maximum sparkle.

We have a serious style crush on Lj’s Bow Tie Necklace, Breton top and denim shirt combination.

Sam mesmerised us with her amazing tattoos and a freshly made Glitter Star Necklace.

“Love my new Moustache Necklace!” Jess proudly shows off her finished piece.

Thank you all for your entries! We hope you enjoyed creating your own jewellery this Christmas. In the mood to get making? Grab a copy of our book, How To Make with Tatty Devine for crafty tips, inspiration and Rosie and Harriet’s essential advice from our webstore now.

Harriet Vine and Rosie Wolfenden

We’ve been awarded MBEs for Services to Fashion in the Queen’s New Year Honours list. It’s incredibly exciting to be recognised for our achievements. We are very proud and honoured to be awarded. We have always been driven to create new, original and exciting jewellery and always will. It’s at the heart of what we do.

We love fashion and everything that it encompasses: style, individualism, and expressing yourself. So we see our award as giving recognition to creativity in the broadest sense.

We want to thank all our customers for their support. Tatty Devine has now become a small but important contributor to the UK economy, and we are proud to represent British design and manufacturing around the world.

Everything about Tatty Devine is a result of the collaboration and friendship between us. It’s brilliant we’re getting these medals together. Apart from our wedding rings, they’ll be the only non-Tatty Devine jewellery you’ll see us wearing.

A love triangle between a human, a werewolf and a glittering member of the undead? It can only be cultural phenomenon The Twilight Saga.

British actress Judi Shekoni stars in the latest chapter of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as Zafrina, a member of the Amazon Coven of vampires. We spotted Judi wearing our Parakeet Large Necklace in a behind-the-scenes interview with US entertainment programme AXS.

Handmade from emerald green perspex, this tropical bird has a beak of shining purple mirror. Individually linked feathers hang from golden rings, creating the effect of sweeping spread wings.

Ruffle some feathers like Judi and shop our Parakeet Necklace now!

Last week Izzy Lawrence came to our studio to make some jewellery.  She is a DJ, presenter and a model, but also has a passion for technology, so we were super pleased to invite her in to play with lasercutters.  Neither of us knew what we would create when we started, we just let it happen!  First we chatted about all the things she loves. Music and playing records came up over and over again, so we channeled our vision in that direction.  Izzy has some really lovely vintage-look headphones, which she never goes anywhere without. So, we drew them!  Then we spent the afternoon creating a special one-off headphones necklace for her . . .

We cut out a paper  version of the headphone necklace to work out scale.

Then came the tricky bit of deciding which colours to use.  We have sourced so many amazing colours of perspex and have masses of swatches!

Then we went downstairs to our workshop and cut the necklace out.  We didn’t do a prototype, we just jumped in and cut it out in all the brilliant colours Izzy chose.

Then we made up the necklace.

Here’s the artwork we created, and the finished piece, complete with lightning bolt Z’s and tiny little etched-in signatures on the headphones! The ultimate name necklace?
