“Viva La Craft” Hamburg

Well!
We have just got back from Hamburg. We were invited to give a lecture about craft and Tatty Devine by Chicks On Speed as part of the “Girl Monster” series of events, which goes alongside the album of the same name. We were very excited to go and even more excited get the chance to be some of the first people to see Faythe Levine’s film “Handmade Nation“.
It was a bit of a whirlwind tour, we arrived in Hamburg at lunch time and went straight down to Kampnagel, were the event was held, to do a bit of a tech sound check to make sure our slideshow would run smoothly. Everything was being set up and we got a chance to catch up with the Chicks and meet Faythe. The venue was awash with balls of wool and washing lines (for hanging up tie-dye projects from the dyeing workshop). We hung Tatty Devine totes along all the lines for people to help themselves to. After a quick pit-stop back at the hotel to get our glad rags on, off we went back to the venue. Our nerves were calmed by some friendly faces and some new ones too, we chatted to the band Koko Von Napoo backstage and then went out front to watch “Handmade Nation” which was fantastic, make sure you get to see it when it comes to England (and in the meantime you can watch snippets on youtube!) After the film we gave our talk, it went well – but sometimes it’s hard to know were to begin with everything we’ve done since Tatty Devine started! It was nice to explain how we have always made everything by hand in London, about everyone who works with us now and all our projects with artists and bands. After we had finished we watched the band and finally relaxed. In the small hours of the morning we found our way back to a rather comfy bed at the hotel and dreamt about all kinds of crafting until breakfast.
Today, being in Hamburg, we took the opportunity to visit one of our stockists, Fitting Forward in St Pauli. It was good to have a bit of a wander before heading back to the airport and London – lots to do before fashion week!

Ladies! It was such a pleasure to meet you. Can’t wait to make the trip to the UK and see your shop in person. I’ll be in touch.
Kisses,
