Frida Small Necklace

This is a portrait of a painter, Tatty Devine style. Fearless Mexican Frida Kahlo often painted self-portraits which dared to reveal the truth of her experience. With Facebook and Twitter et cetera, you'd think we'd be dab hands at telling the world the truth today. But the real truth is that we still need feminist icons like Frida to inspire us. Not only did she lead a fierce life, she had fierce hair, too, all done up and decked in flowers. And her face, with its moustache and monobrow and more beauty than a Hollywood paparazzi's memory card, is a reminder not to get too bogged down in BB creams and hair removal. We've reproduced Frida's features here in leather using a photographic laser etch. Her magnificent hair decor is recreated with a red foil rose and pink resin marigold cabochon.
