If you want a plant with a sunny disposition, pick one from the sunflower family. The humble marigold is a classic English flower, with daisy leaves and a dark centre a bit like a liquorice allsort. It's a double flower with thick petticoats of petals. But you're not here to shop for flowers, you're here to buy jewellery. And so to this brooch. It's made from bright orange and golden yellow perspex, curved by hand into gentle open domes. The flower's centre is represented by a glass bead, in a brown so dark it looks like black. This is a piece with serious pep, enough to cheer up spring coats and bring summer frocks to life. There's a bit of a sixties vibe going on, so part your hair in the middle and pin on a marigold.
