Kristabel's Tatty Treasures

There's one blogger we look to again and again to see how she wears our jewellery - that's Kristabel from I Want You To Know. Her Tatty Devine collection is beautifully curated and we LOVE how she reworks her favourite pieces, creating fun and fresh looks. We caught up with Kristabel to chat about her style, shopping independent and to take a closer look at her treasured Tatty Devine designs...

Tell us a little bit about yourself… I'm Kristabel, a twenty-something blogger with a penchant for chunky heels, vivid prints and exploring the world. I started IWYTK almost 8 years ago and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made!

When and how did you first discover Tatty Devine? I'm pretty sure that I've been admiring all things Tatty for the past 13 years. I remember a friend introducing me to their Name Necklaces when I was in 6th form and I loved the idea, since it's impossible to find my name on anything. It took me almost 7 years to finally treat myself!

Describe your style in five words… Colourful, eclectic, practical and consistently inconsistent!

How many pieces of Tatty Devine jewellery do you now own? I have 23 pieces now!

How do you store your collection? I used to keep them in the black boxes but I managed to find a really nice wooden storage box in Porto last year. It has a lid with a frame, so I've popped in a personalised print. I keep my prized dinosaur necklace in a separate box and it all sits on a wire unit with the rest of my make-up.

We love seeing your Tatty Devine style on IWYTK! Which designs get the most wear? I seem to go through phases, but I'll always reach for my La Luna, Mexican Embroidery and Kaleidoscope Stone necklaces again and again. They're so versatile and always add something special to an outfit.

Most treasured Tatty Devine design? Probably my Kaleidoscope Stone necklace, it's so ornate and the finish is really unique. I also love my Dinosaur Necklace, I made it at a Tatty Workshop and it was so interesting to see what goes into creating a piece. I think I ended up threading half the bits the wrong way until I realised!

14

Has your jewellery taste evolved over time? Definitely! It's a little less twee and more understated now, but every so often I'll find a piece that is the exception to the rule. I think the construction of Tatty Devine jewellery adds to the appeal, sometimes there are so many cool components or an unusual finish on the Perspex and it just works.  I always get compliments whenever I wear my necklaces.

11

How important is supporting and buying from independents to you? So important! I studied knitwear design, so I have so much respect for anyone going it alone and having an aesthetic that isn't all over the High Street.  We need this sort of creativity to keep the industry exciting. I tend to buy products from a mixture of places but you'll usually spot the new trends when shopping independent.

23

Latest addition to your collection? I now have the Craft Flower Large Necklace, which I love to wear with something plain or clash with a print.

What in your wildest dreams would you like Tatty Devine to design? It's always interesting to see how Tatty Devine interprets prints and textures so perhaps something tile themed, drawing from different cultures. I have some amazing snaps of pastel Peranakan houses in Singapore that would be perfect inspiration!
