2018: A Year in Collaborations

Teamwork is the dream work, right?

2018’s been a big one for us and collaborations, so we’re taking a moment to look back at our many, many projects over this year, spanning across jewellery, homeware, ceramics, and luggage. Join us as we reminisce over capsule collections celebrating 2018: the Year of the Woman, abstract artist Ben Nicholson, snap happy lobster clocks (you heard right!) and many, many more...

Special delivery! Present buying just got cuter in January, as we launched a range of cards with stationery designer, Alison Hardcastle, inspired by classic Tatty Devine pieces. Fans couldn’t wait to get their hands on our super snail mail, complete with colour pop envelopes, how cute?

"Well done, sister suffragette!' ✊ Forget Valentine’s Day, this February we were all about the Year of the Woman and Vote100, designing a line of jewellery inspired by the Museum of London’s extensive suffragette collection. Take a peek at the Suffragette Bunting Necklace, laser cut from glossy mirror acrylic in the movement’s iconic colours, “purple for dignity, green for hope and white for purity.” Even Mayor of London Sadiq Khan was spotted in the Votes For Women Brooch, yaaaaas!

"Okay, ladies, now let’s get in formation...” International Women’s Day in March saw Team Tatty take over the Southbank Centre shop with our empowering GIRLS GOT IDEAS collection, designed in collaboration with Poppy’s Papercuts, inspired by six superwomen from all walks of life. You could even buy top merch from our muses, from sparkling hula hoops by Marawa the Amazing to cheeky prints from Poppy Chancellor herself!

Forget April Showers, this month was rainbow bright as we teamed up with design mavericks MADE to bring a little love to your lounge. Statement mirrors, cushions, and towels featuring classic Tatty Devine motifs such as Dental Bling and Gin were spotted on Instagram Stories up and down the country - did you manage to get your hands on a piece of the collection? eclectic_eccentric_ snapped up the Lobster Wall Clock!

Way back in May, we picked up our palette, adjusted our beret and got our gouache on with a new Tate collaboration for 2018: inspired by artist Ben Nicholson. Brush up on abstract expressionism with a capsule of three pieces laser cut in cool blue acrylic layered over neutral cream and matt rust acrylic and handmade by our team of talented jewellery makers in Britain. What a masterpiece!

Who run the world? Sunny June saw the launch of our charitable partnership with Fawcett Society, the UK's leading charity campaigning for gender equality. Catch them if you can! The best-selling Courage Calls Necklace and Brooch commemorate the unveiling of Millicent Fawcett's statue in Parliament Square, recreating her bronze banner in shimmering matt gold etched and hand inked acrylic. Get your dose of girl power now!

Headed on your hols? Our Tatty Devine X Mi-Pac collab launched just in time for those jaunts in July! From wash bags to weekenders, we created colour pop patterns featuring classic Tatty Devine designs to adorn must-have luggage and even took a girl gang of influencers on a day out to Dreamland, Margate. Race you to the Waltzers, Kitty!

Pop yourself down at our virtual potter’s wheel and take a peek at glossy NEW ceramics, fresh for October, designed in collaboration with Keith Brymer Jones and Make International. Faux crystal studded vases and super collectible mugs found their way online and in-store, with the Gin Mug firmly in the lead to be Christmas list present of choice! How cute is stockist Oklahoma's snap of the Dental Bling Mug?

"Someone once asked me how I could be a feminist activist and still wear so much pink and so the title was born from that!" Yep, October’s not the only scary thing round these parts… activist Scarlett Curtis took on stereotypes and tackle toxic mistruths, with a little help from actors, activists, authors, and poets, publishing their experiences with feminism and sexism under the title, Feminists Don’t Wear Pink. All proceeds go to Girl Up, an initiative hosted by the United Nations Foundation which aims to encourage girls to support girls, worldwide. We had to get in on the action and so created the Feminists Don't Wear Pink Necklace, with £3 per piece goes to Girl Up, too.

Pick up our NEW collaboration with Somerset House, in celebration of their Good Grief! Charlie Brown exhibition. Snoopy, Woodstock, and Charlie Brown’s iconic expressions have been immortalised in laser-cut acrylic, handmade in our Kent studio and available online, in-store and via Somerset House. All together now, “aaugh!”

Brrr, it’s a little chilly in here. Pass the hot water bottle! Here’s a sneak peek of a cosy collaboration with the Design Museum coming very soon…

We’re dreaming of a technicolour Christmas… coming soon: the Tatty Devine Rainbow Halo is due to make its magical mark on the Greenwich Peninsula this December. Stay tuned for full details this week!

Phew! We weren't joking, what a year... twelve collaborations over twelve months - how do we do it? 😉

Don't forget to share your snaps under #MyTattyDevine and take a peek at our world over on Pinterest. We can't wait to reveal all about 2019's collaborations in store!
