August 13, 2018 - Charlotte Prichard
Hurry! There's just four days left to cast your #TDBringItBack vote! We’re bringing back fifteen classic designs from Tatty Devine history as a limited edition collection and we need your help to decide the all important 15th piece. We’ve narrowed it down to five of Rosie, Harriet and Team Tatty’s favourite pieces, but it’s up to you to choose which one you think should come back over on Facebook. Can’t make up your mind? Join Team Tatty as we delve in the back stories, discover the design inspirations and state the case for each piece up for the vote. Drum roll, please... Today, take a closer look at the Swing Girl Necklace! A glamorous performer is laser cut in glossy black Perspex, ready to begin her high octane act for an adoring crowd. Harriet says, "The Swing Girl made her first appearance in Autumn Winter 2004 alongside the very first versions of the Trapeze Necklace, Lobster Necklace and Swallow Brooches. It was a really important collection for Tatty Devine! We were really into craft at that point and I appeared on Woman's Hour on BBC Radio 4 to crochet live on air and talk about the new jewellery, which included a knitted watch and pea pod inspired brooch! It was just before the explosion of burlesque and there was a real sense of excitement in the air. The Swing Girl Necklace was inspired by glamorous circuses and awe inspiring performances. It's one of the general obsessions that I have - they're just eternally cool. The girl is sitting on an aerial trapeze, ready to perform in a classic red and white striped big top. Over the years, it became one of the key silhouettes that signifies Tatty Devine." We headed back into the archives and tracked down the original Swing Girl Necklace modelled by our good friend Jen of interpretative dance pair, Duotard (and Hot Breath Karaoke, too!) That's one spangly leotard, right there! Team Tatty says: Store star Charlotte: "This is such a classic Tatty Devine piece. I love the way the girl is holding the chain in her hand, too! Vote for the Swing Girl Necklace!" Desperate to add the Swing Girl Necklace to your collection? Simply head over to our Facebook album and cast your vote by liking its photo. The most popular piece will launch in store and online as part of our 15th birthday collection, and one lucky voter will win the chosen piece for their collection. Yes, really! Hurry, you only have until midnight on Sunday 13th July to have your say. Show your love for the Swing Girl Necklace on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #TDBringItBack now!
