Women We Watch: Amy Griffith of Eaton House Essex

From holographic glitter walls, floors, and ceilings to opulently themed rooms and the kitschest kitchen you ever did see: Eaton House Studio is the talk of Tiptree and beyond! Now celebrating its 10th year, we just had to find out more about the house and its next chapter as a lifestyle brand, oh and the *whisper it* infamous Fireman Room, so popped on our Pop Leopard Paw Earrings and hopped on the #EHS10 party bus for a catch up with creator Amy Griffith. Warning: may contain FUN!

Way back in 2016, we captured our Gin Water Bottle and Cover looking fancy Green Room, a cosy den in mint and malachite hues, complete with a roaring fire, bronze antique lighting, and the cheekiest blown-up prints from campaigns past via Amy’s days as a senior member of the team at iconic lingerie brand, Agent Provocateur. Wander through into the miniature kitsch-en: its ceiling festooned with oversized fabric flowers, deconstructed and remade to Amy’s exact specifications: yep, this isn’t your average location.

Fix yourself with an Earl Grey cocktail and talk a wander through the house’s leafy garden, past the Saloon Bar - with its metal mock rope detailing on the doors bidding you a good night and ‘y’all come back now...’, vibrant cacti transform into heady pinks and purples of the lawn and the piece de resistance: a feature wall showcasing Amy’s latest venture: Eaton House Paint! From sumptuous metallic 'Antique Gold', to, 'Ken', THE hottest neon pink you could imagine: it’s here and in the fanciest paint tin like, ever…

It’s time we found out more about the process behind our new favourite location, let’s head to the Dining Room for a chat with the boss lady herself over a Sugar Tits London 'Disco Tea'. That's the way we like it, a-huh a-huh!

FROM PODCASTS TO PLAYLISTS, MOVIES TO DOCUMENTARIES: WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

It changes all the time. I work with music on a daily basis. I purposely make playlists on a monthly basis as a soundtrack of my day to day work which inspires me consciously. My imagination is ultimately my number 1 inspiration.

DESCRIBE AN AVERAGE DAY IN YOUR LIFE AS CREATOR (CO-CREATOR?) OF LOCATION HOUSE, EATON HOUSE ESSEX…

There is no average day in the life of Eaton House but the one thing that’s consistent is constantly making dreams a reality for the house, clients, and friends.

OK, WHICH WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE? AN AVOCADO SUITE AND MATCHING CARPET OR ENTIRELY MAGNOLIA WALLS?

Easy question. We do have an avocado suite already!

IF YOU COULD DUPLICATE THE EATON HOUSE AESTHETIC ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

Marrakech. The demand for another location house has been huge for the last 10 years.

I love the country - the vibrancy, the people, the culture.

HOW DO YOU PLAN THEMES FOR EACH OF YOUR ROOMS?

I’m inspired by colour. Each room starts with a colour palette and goes from there really.

I found it so difficult to get the most perfect colour palettes on the high street so I decided to launch my own fun, luxury paint range.

It’s been a real labour of love but I’m a strong believer in doing things organically.

The paints are available for pre-order now and launching later in the month.

WHAT DO YOU PERSONALLY REGARD AS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT IN THE LAST TEN YEARS?

Creating Eaton House of course!

WHAT’S THE BEST DECISION YOU EVER MADE?

Moving to England to pursue my career as an artist. I’m originally from California.

WORST AESTHETIC DECISION?

I originally started painting the house baby blue but it wasn’t quite right so I started again - and now we have the pink house!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE OF TATTY DEVINE?

My favourite piece of Tatty Devine was the keep-sake designs myself and all of my friends custom made for a hen do. You can design your own personalised Name Necklace online which I absolutely love!

WHICH WOMEN ARE YOU WATCHING RIGHT NOW?

Beauty Spock - she’s a super talented makeup artist and I love her art.

Always keeping an eye on my girl, Felicity Hayward.

Ayesha H is a professional weapons performer who is trained by real cowboys, world-renowned martial artists amongst many others. She’s a strong woman doing something unique and it’s super inspiring.
