How It's Made: Tatty Devine Medal Necklace

Just 36 days to go until the Olympic Games begin and whilst we can't all be record-breaking rowers or sprinters, you can sport award winning style with our new Medal Necklace. This champion necklace is our way of celebrating London, our home town, hosting the Olympics. It's even hung from a swatch of official Queen's Diamond Jubilee Ribbon, made by British crafters Toye, Kenning and Spencer. The company has been manufacturing medals and accompanying ribbons throughout the history of the 300 year old family business. Considered the finest quality in the world, Toye, Kenning and Spencer ribbons are made for international organisations including the UN and Nato. They have also held a Royal Warrant since 1953 when they made the Coronation robes for the Queen and as part of a consortium of three companies, won a contract to create over 450,000 medals for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. We love the regal feel of the red, white and blue threads used in the creation of the official Jubilee ribbon. Toye, Kenning and Spencer's needle loom weaves the official ribbon at their Bedworth factory. They've woven over 100,000 metres worth of ribbon so far - with no signs of slowing down! Ta-da! Here's the finished piece in all its glory. Sent all the way from Toye, Kenning and Spencer, the maroon, white and blue ribbon is finished with a basketweave-detail metal mount and it all swings from a Tatty Devine golden chain. The cut-out medal is even studded with Swarovski crystals.
