The History Of The Zip Necklace

The History Of The Zip Necklace

When Co-founders, Rosie and Harriet started contemplating which jewellery to bring back in our 15th Birthday Collection, they immediately agreed that the Zip Necklace had to return and it's since been back in even more sparkling colourways!

This super stylish statement necklace originally appeared as part of our Autumn Winter 2008 collection, Attack of the 50ft Jewellery and instantly became a Tatty Devine classic.

Originally inspired by kitsch b-movies and larger-than-life versions of everyday objects, the Zip Necklace has been worn by many a Tatty Devine fan - and some famous faces, too!

Join us as we take a look back at the Zip Necklace's illustrious first moments...

We're big fans of electro punks Robots in Disguise (once they even took over our Brick Lane store for a crazy afternoon of makeovers, singing and fun!) so asking singer Sue Denim to model the Zip Necklace for us in 2009 was a no brainer.

Who can resist the beats of electro queen Peaches? Hot on the heels of her performance in our Brick Lane store, we asked Peaches to model the GIANT Zip Necklace for our campaign shoot in 2009.

That same year, we led a ceremonial parade from our Soho shop to our Monmouth Street store in the heart of Covent Garden. Rosie accessorised her glamorous JC de Castelbajac leopard knit with the matt gold Zip Necklace - and red lipstick, of course!

Calling all Glee fans! We spotted Tina striking a pose in the matt gold Zip Necklace in the promotional shots for Season Four.

Tatty Devine is for everyone! Our longtime friend and collaborator Rob Ryan is fond of wearing statement jewellery for a special occasion. Back in 2010, Rob rocked the bold and bright Zip Brooch at the launch of his limited edition collaboration with Lulu Guinness.

In the original Autumn Winter 2008 collection, we made the Zip Necklace in matt gold, classic black and red, yellow and blue Perspex. In honour of our 15th birthday in 2014, we recreated it in a luxurious, gleaming mirror gold colour way, complete with matt gold detailing and intricate etching.
