For those who’ve been living under a rock or hiding in a soup can, can you describe what you do in five words for those who don’t know?
I make felt parallel universes!

Food, colour and fun are always at the heart of your artwork. Where does your inspiration strike most?
Definitely in everyday familiar consumer spaces; I love them all - corner shops, chippies, sweet shops and supermarkets. The places we visit continually that connect us all.

Your felt artworks translate so perfectly into acrylic jewellery. How did it feel to see this collaboration come to life?
A Tatty Devine collaboration has been on my wish list for years, so I'm incredibly excited to see it happening. The felt was screaming out to be jewellery! I couldn't be happier.

Can you tell us a story or fun fact about any of the designs in our jewellery collection?
I designed most of the pieces at 30,000 feet on a flight to the US - the next part was definitely not fun, as I left my iPad on a plane in Arkansas.  After a lot of calls and a dash to the lost property desk, we were reunited!

Phew! Your exhibition at the Momentary Museum in Arkansas features over  20,000 handmade artworks that bring together an American supermarket. For our UK fans who can’t visit The Beginning of Convenience,  can you describe what one might spot in the show?
If you've seen one of my installations in London, it will be very familiar, but on a massive scale. There will be 4,000 square feet of felted supermarket, plus a recreation of my Suffolk studio, complete with a huge installation including 3,500 individually hung bananas. 

The Beginning of Convenience is inspired by US supermarkets from 1975-1995, that era when changing roles within the household led to the proliferation of quick and easy consumer goods, such as microwave dinners, frozen foods, and out-of-the-box meals.

What fascinates you most about the US grocery shopping experience?
I am obsessed with packaging and branding, so I love to see the aisles full of technicolour products. On my last trip to the US, I made about 10 different supermarket trips; I had to buy an extra bag for the plane to get all of my favourite products home.

That's a tough choice, as I am in love with all of them.  But I would say the Basil the Banana necklace.
