2020: An Extraordinary Year!
Now we know 2020 has had its lows and it’s been a bit of a weird one for all of us, but here at Tatty Devine we want to take a moment, or two, to remember just some of the highlights we have still managed to have in this extraordinary year.

So let’s cast our mind back to the beginning of 2020, seems like forever ago, right? The days of cramming onto the tube, going to parties and queueing up for fancy doughnuts.

Misshapes: The Making of Tatty Devine
We started the year in Leicester with our Misshapes: The Making of Tatty Devine exhibition at De Montfort University where we held one of our last IRL Bunting Workshops with the help of the Set team. We’re still thinking about those cakes...

We then went on to the Stephen Lawrence Gallery back here in London, where we lasted a whole two weeks before the dreaded lockdown began! Team Tatty got dressed up to spend the night schmoozing with ALL our favourite people, whilst taking another trip down memory lane.

Looking at memories of Tatty past, we may have been inspired to bring some old favourites back but we’ll get back to that later!

Bloom Boom
We sprung into SS20 with full-on florals! Bloom Boom was a masterpiece of must-have statement buds, blossoms and posies.

It wouldn’t be a seasonal collection without a launch party. Packed up with prosecco and all the jewellery we could carry, we head on over to Four Store, our Brick Lane neighbours. Some of you lovely lot joined us for a night of picking your favourite flowers surrounded by the most beautiful terrariums.

John Soane
Tatty Devine X Sir John Soane’s Museum was a witty homage to the Bank of England architect’s extensive collection of objects, architectural endeavours and the incredible Sir John Soane's Museum itself.

From shimmering ceramics to digitally printed miniatures of Hogarth greats, we recreated our favourites from the Sir John Soane Museum including his beloved Fanny the Dog.

The Fantastical Factory of Curious Craft
Our very own Creative Director, Harriet Vine MBE, took to the screen to join Keith Lemon, Anna Richardson and Zak Khchai on Channel 4’s The Fantastical Factory of Curious Craft! Judging the best crafters in the UK, Harriet saw all sorts from GIANT furry cats to a Macaw headpiece.

Did you know? Ann from the show was one of the models for our Wondertales collection.

Tatty Devine goes digital
Social distancing and not being able to hang out IRL meant we took things online! We kicked things off with our All Together Now festival on Instagram, we recruited some of our favourite ladies for a day of crafting, hula hooping and musical performances.

Another massive thank you to Katie Jones, Lauren Mahon, Karolina Merska, Lyndell Mansfield, Ekkah, Sophie Scott, Remi Wolf, Marawa and Girli. Got some spare time over Christmas? You can catch up on all of the craft and performances on our IGTV!

And we didn’t just stop there, we launched our second seasonal collection, Desire Paths, on Zoom and even held our first Jewellery Making Workshop online! Harriet took to the slightly smaller screen this time to intimately guide some of our amazing customers in making their very own Radiance Necklace in Iridescent - ooooh.

It was a GREAT night with lots of laughs, but don’t worry if you weren’t there you can still join in! Our creative team got behind the cameras and made a YouTube tutorial that you can follow at home whenever you like, just shop our Jewellery Making Kits and you can make along with Harriet.

Wrapped up in a Rainbow
It’s all been about meeting your friends for a walk and a coffee this year and you just HAVE to do it in style! So we hooked up with our friends over at Miss Pompom to bring you the must-have winter accessory of the year, the RAINBOW SCARF. Wooo!

Delving into the Archive
The Birthday celebrations never end at Tatty Devine. We delved back into our archive to bring THREE new additions to our Misshapes collection. Have an ‘ink, can you remember all of them?

First up, from 2008’s Attack of the 50ft Jewellery, there were the Pen Nibs! For the lovers of lists these gold mirror nibs are spilling with Swarovski crystals.

All this reminiscing has got us feeling thirsty, cocktail anyone? Oohh, we all needed a drink or two this year so we got summering with the Cocktail Umbrellas. Perfect for sitting in the garden with a gin in a tin.

Then things got SPARKLY with our Paisley Roses, on the top of everyone's wish list here in Team Tatty we found it hard to keep this one a secret.

Wow, what a year! Team Tatty have gone from strength to strength working from home; we are now pros at zoom calls, online festivals, at home photoshoots and even setting up jewellery making studios in our living rooms. There is truly nothing we can’t do in our slippers, and with the help of our wonderful customers. So THANK YOU for making 2020 one to remember.
