How to: Dress Regencycore

Where TikTok leads, Team Tatty follow… Whether you’re norm’, cottage or regency:  the internet’s aesthetic ‘core’ obsessions are driving  2022’s fashion trends. Be it Bridgerton Season 2, Platinum Jubilee and the return of the puff sleeves (thank you Gucci AW22), it only seems right to have a royal knees up with help from our new fashion fixation: Regencycore.

Also known as Royalcore or Rrincesscore, jeans and tees are OUT and regal realness is IN  (Haven’t the foggiest what we’re talking about? Head to Refinery29 where they perfectly sum up ‘one of the buzziest topics in fashion’...)

Calling all Kings and Queens! For those not afraid of a ruffle or a touch of brocade, let’s find out how to add a touch of Regency-era glamour to your wardrobe, even if your everyday life doesn’t involve promenading and balls à la Miss Kate Sharma *scrumples brow*.

Pop on our Jane Austen Cameo Pendant to bag a historical hottie!

The 1800s are calling! With news that searches for corsets have spiked by 123% since the launch of Bridgerton, sampling a more streamlined silhouette seems like a good place to start. While we’re not looking to be cinched to an inch of our lives, we've got our eye on corset style tops to layer over a white tee or satin shirt for a romantic look that’s also a chaste nod to the  Regency Era. Creating the perfect frame for a homage to English novelist and 19th-century icon Jane Austen, complete your outfit with some monochromatic magic, courtesy of Tatty Devine X Chawton House (an ACTUAL regency era listed building).

This Simone Rocha dress is ruffling our feathers.

Contemporary heroines, this ones for you! Fairytale dressing has just two requisites; BIG princess energy and a ball gown of sorts… Since Bridgerton hit our screens, searches for empire-line dresses skyrocketed by 93%, as inspired viewers scrambled to get their Featherton on! So, how are wearing this look? We’re taking an extravagant leaf out of Simone Rocha’s book and are the puff sleeve. We’ll be rocking Olivia Rubin’s Eloise Dress with our Jubilee Bunting Necklace in Platinum Purple over the June Bank Holiday weekend and if you spy a cuff trailing across the Platinum Jubilee Pudding, look away, dear readers.

Adorn yourself with a nod to HRH The Queen’s 1953 coronation in shimmering flags of laser cut and hand linked platinum and regal purple bunting flags. And yes, that is a Jubilee-certified commemorative crown tag!

Cat got your tongue? No, you’re just gobsmacked that this controversial piece of footwear is back… right here, right meow! Put your paws up for the kitten heel! An honourable member of high society, catch us prowling our way from garden parties to galas and we’re even coordinating with our Little Cats Earrings and a pair of opera gloves.

It’s gilded glamour! After the recent Met Gala and some amazing Gilded Age inspired looks, we’re looking to the luxurious, golden tones for our royally-approved accessories. Billie Eilish caught our eye in her satin corset and lace combo and reference to La Belle Époque: but just one change we’d make? Add a dainty Astrologer’s Hand Necklace or our best-selling Shooting Star Necklace in Gold Dust

It’s well known amongst Regency circles that if one aims for a touch of grandiose, pearls are a must! The ultimate Regencycore accessory, our Liberty Pearl Pendant is designed in London and handmade by our all-female team in Kent, as an ode to trailblazing women in history.

Convinced Regencycore is the movement for you? Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming collaboration that’s surely fit for a royal: did somebody say a jewellery collection inspired by Brighton’s seaside pleasure palace?! With the world of dopamine dressing here to stay, embrace your inner monarch and celebrate her Maj’s 70 years on the throne in style with our Platinum Jubilee Edit online and instore now.
